WEEKLY CLONING CHRONICLE

N&N Corporation License rescinded;
Cloning restricted to replacements, not multiplications

In a sweeping move last week, the Nature and Nurture Corporation was indicted on numerous counts of cruelty. With the passing of the Clone Equality Law, clones can no longer be differentiated from non-clones. This law has been a long time coming; aside from the fact that they are created in labs, there really is no difference between a clone and an original. Since brain-scans are taken about once a week, there may be a couple of days' cognitive difference between the clone and the original; but otherwise the two are identical, and should not be treated otherwise.

The N&N Corporation used the cloning process (or cee-process, as it's now being called) to make multiple copies of an individual. Furthermore, they used these multiple copies for their own nefarious purposes. This led to many wealthy individuals creating clones of themselves or others to serve as slaves.

No more! Multiple cloning of a single person is now illegal. No more than one incarnation of a single individual may exist at a given time.

The cee-process is intended to extend the life-span, and not the population.

When an individual dies, he shall be recloned using his recent cell-sample (cell-samples will now be taken once a year) combined with his most recent weekly brain scan, and thus brought back to life.

It may not be eternal life, but it sure represents a positive step in the direction.
