High School 'Friends Forever'

Do not wish to be anything but what you are, and try to be that perfectly.

What I love about my friends is that each one is unique, and they all strive to build on their uniqueness to the best of their abilities. I've told you enough about my Swarthmore friends so here's a page devoted to my friends back home - basically because I've just been threatened on pain of death to link my page to one of theirs in particular! Anyway, we all went to high school together at Townsend Harris High School in Flushing, New York.

Andrea, aka 'Cutie', has been my friend ever since ninth grade. We look a bit alike, and I can't begin to count the times that someone, in high school, would tap me from behind and call out, "Andrea!" And Andrea's confessed that the same thing happened to her once. She's my comrade in arms when it comes to being short - after all, misery loves company, and so I have to say that I'm glad, glad, GLAD that she's short, too. D'ya hear me, Cutie? I'm GLAD!! (Incidentally, MY nickname is 'Shortie' - no comment)

• Andrea wants to become an actress, and she's gotten off to a pretty good start, too - she's been an extra on the soap opera Another World more times than I can count; she was on an After-School Special......and of course, her most well-known and toted role - a book recommender on Reading Rainbow at the tender age of nine! (Sorry, Andrea, but no - you're NEVER going to live that one down!) She's interned on the set of a movie - I forget the name - and managed to snag a role as extra, too!

• Another close friend of mine is Christina, who, sadly enough, is NOT short, which really piques me. But no one can stay mad at Christina for a long time - and I can't recall EVER being mad at her! Actually, there WAS once - when we were roomies on the senior trip to Virginia in high school and she beaned my nose with her elbow at three in the morning. But I had to take into account the fact that she was sleeping and didn't mean it - at least, I don't think she did!
  • Christina is actually getting married in August! I can't wait to throw mounds and mounds of rice at her. :-) I've known Chris ever since ninth grade, and the weirdest thing is that I can't remember for the life of me how we met - it seems like we've ALWAYS been friends! She's a great writer, and is my fellow X-Files fan-at-arms. We have a major debate going as to whether Scully and Mulder should/will get 'involved'. I say no to both - Christina takes the opposite view. We've got a whole buck riding on the outcome there!

  
  • NEW UPDATE: Lots has happened in Christina's life in the last couple of years. She's actually gotten MARRIED! And later, she gave birth to a bouncing baby boy named Charlie, who has the most infectious smile I've ever seen. And now baby number two is on the way!
