CTY
|
CTY is a program run by Johns Hopkins University with sites at college campuses all along the eastern seaboard, and one in L.A. and another in Dublin, Ireland. It was conceived in the seventies as a place for bright kids to go and learn stuff. It has become much more. It's a place where time is compressed, and so much learning, both about academics and about life, happens. It's a coming-of-age story each summer. I personally have gone to the Hamilton site, and its reincarnations at Union and Siena. Nomadism is the only way to live. CTY defies description, so I won't attempt it here. But for all those who know, "A long, long time ago, I can still remember..." Oh, for those of you who might wonder, I never went to Carlisle. The HUB referred to on my main page is a different one. I've gone to Hamilton, Hamilton-comme-Union, and Hamilton-comme-Siena. Then there was my first year, which we will not discuss here. If you're masochistic enough to want to know, email me. I've taken Genetics, Chemistry and Physics, then Logic. That last class made me wish I'd taken philosophy classes every year previous, but what can you do other than complain to the void, and hope that people read it? But, more important than the academics are the people. They have always been great. A simple toast. I love you all, I love the passionfruit. Here is my mandatory canon list. |
