Mission Statement The Outsiders Club is an outdoors club whose aim is to introduce students, professors, and friends of Swarthmore College to the outdoors, allow them to meet other outdoor enthusiasts, and expose people to elements not found on campus. People of all levels and interests are encouraged to go on trips and bring their ideas to the club. Activities in which we want to engage include hiking, canoeing, biking, rock climbing, overnight trips, ski trips, and just about anything else that can be considered part of being outdoors.
At present, the club includes a leader group of 11 students and about 80 members who receive regular emails as to the upcoming activities. The club is still in its early stages, but with continued enthusiasm from the members currently involved and many more trips, the club will grow and be able to take on the form and scope that we want it to.
It is our hope that in a few years a fully established club will be in operation on campus with a promising future. We would like the club membership list to expand to include anyone associated with the college who is interested in the outdoors. We would like the club itself to have running list of leaders qualified to run trips and a core group of leaders committed to overseeing the club's activities and organization. With the appropriation of gear, we would like to run a well-outfitted gear room that will be open to anyone even if they aren't running club trips. We would also like to help create an Orientation Adventure program for incoming freshmen. Other future projects that we would like to bring to light include a guidebook, club t-shirts, and slide shows of club trips.

Thanks to Ben Merrick The core group of the Outsiders wishes to thank Ben Merrick of Pomona College for all of his help in launching the current Club during his exchange semester at Swarthmore. His efforts (for another college's club) are impressive and much appreciated.
