vegetable soup: the chuck method
a variation on the method to his madness

potatos, carrots, 1 onion, 3 cloves garlic, celery if you want
bay leaves (2), basil, cumin, salt, pepper, vegetable bulion 
(ingrediants can very - the method is the thing)
simple enough: sautee onions and garlic in just enough oil, in bottom of the soup pot. while sauteeing, either nuke or boil potatoes to half-cook them. add about 6 cups of water and bulion, and the bay leaves. cube up potatoes, add to pot first. then carrots. then celery. some basil (1-2 tsp), pinch of cumin, salt (already some in the bulion), and some pepper.

potatos are best red, w/ skins
