Youth Empowering Youth Against Violence

Issue/Concern

Mission Statement

To educate students about peaceful resolutions to situations and to provide an open setting in which students can discuss local or global issues that pertain to peace or violence.

Who We Are

SAVE R US, Students Against Violence Everywhere Are Us, is a student run anti-violence organization in the United States. The club was founded by Brandon Wolff at his high school in early 2001 and has since spread to four other high schools in the Bucks County, PA area. SAVE R US is a club dedicated to the promotion of nonviolence in both schools and in the community. The club, which is run by six student officers and advised by a school counselor, meets at least three times a month to plan and coordinate various activities. One of the signature activities that SAVE R US coordinates is its “cafe” discussion groups. These discussion groups are conducted in a “cafe” style atmosphere to allow students to feel comfortable to discuss serious issues that pertain to diversity, bullying and violence. Another main activity is the planning of an annual peace awareness week for the SAVE R US club. The club began this tradition in 2001 with a two day peace festival at Council Rock High School. The club then expanded the festival from two days to five days with the planning of Peace Week 2003. The club then expanded even further as they planned Peace Week BUCKS COUNTY 2004 in conjunction with other SAVE R US clubs and 12 other community organizations in the area. The newest SAVE R US program is the Peacemakers program in which trained high school students go into elementary schools to educate elementary students about bullying and violence. The clubs current mission is its expansion project to open up new chapters throughout the United States and the world.

Expansion Project

SAVE R US International is currently looking for motivated and determined students to take the initiative to start a SAVE R US chapter in their school or community. If interested, please visit the SAVE R US website.
