The Anti-Racism Coalition of Swarthmore

Mission Statement

We want to be a collaborative collective, open to all Swarthmore students, with a common goal of confronting systemic racism. As white students and students of color, we will reflect on our unique positionalities within systems of institutionalized racism. We are committed to doing racial justice work at every level of engagement: internal, intergroup, and intra-communal, while holding ourselves accountable throughout this process. We strive to make anti-racism work accessible and to collaborate with other organizations on and off campus to further anti-racist work.

We want to encourage dialogue, prioritizing voices at the intersections of oppressions, in spaces such as open forums, workshops and caucuses to further our knowledge and understanding of racism and the way it relates to language, whiteness, and its historical context. We will actively seek collaboration with and show up for other groups’ anti-racism work, including protests, demonstrations, and advocacy initiatives. We will strategize and advocate for social and policy change within Swarthmore and our broader communities.
