"The Force is with you when you are calm, at peace, passive."

In the insanity of my life, I have a small group of places that I have set aside in my head for the calm moments in my life - those times when everything seemed right and I was really happy and serene. When I feel like I'm losing my mind, I look at that picture, or reread an essay that reminds me of those times as a reminder that things will be that way again and I should hang in there.

This page is a group of reminders of those times.

Sunrise is a time when I usually feel particularly calm. The day is spread out before you, not enough time has passed for anything to have gone wrong - there is just something soothing about it. Some my most peaceful moments have come from rising early to observe the dawn.

One summer in high school I spent a month learning french in the woods of Minnesotta. It rained nearly the entire time, but one day I emerged from class to find the most beautiful sunshine. I had to stop and enjoy it. Several friends were seized by a similar urge and joined me, and then someone snapped this picture of us. "Sunshine, on my shoulders, makes me happy..."

Have you ever felt such overwhelming joy that you feel you must be radiating it to everyone around you? Sometimes I feel as though my face will split from smiling.
