We have provided a summary of the activities for the National
Political Organizations on campus.
College Democrats
The College Democrats is an activist group for those interested in the
politics of the Democratic Party. For more information contact Matt
Hellman '98 or Maria Lin '96.
College Republicans
The College Republicans is an activist group for those interested in
the politics of the Republican Party. This organization promulgates
infromation about conservative candidates and raises campus awareness
about conservative political viewpoints. For more information contact

Political Organizations on campus.
Amnesty International
Amnesty International is a world-wide organization for human rights.
The Swarthmore Amnesty Chapter focuses on awareness as members of the
Urgent Action Network, a progam established by AI to respong to cases of
individuals who are under threat of torture. A letter-writing table is
set up every Friday to get people involved. In the spring, the annual
"Rites of Spring:" a week of letter writing is organized. For more

Civil Liberties Society
The Swarthmore Civil Liberties Society works fto promote respect for
for individual's rights. Typical activities include inviting speakers to
the campus, posting educational displays, and organizing letter-writing
campaigns or petitions.

Alliance for Sexual Orientation Rights and Awareness
(ASORA)
ASORA is a coalition of students of all sexual orientations, working
to eradicate heterosexism and homophobia. Activities range from parties to
political action. Meetings are held in teh upstairs lounge of Sharples
every Sunday from 12-1pm.

Pro-Choice Task Force
The Task Force was established in 1985 to help maintain reproductive
freedoms for all women. Every Saturday morning members of the Task Force
travel to family planning clinics to escort patients around the
anti-choice "street counselors" who assemble in from of clinics in
