High Flyers 5-4 Sharingans |
| On Wednesday, The High Flyers (Goldstein, Brennan) played against The
Sharingans (Sidhu, GP), in what was widely expected to be a close match between two very exciting teams. The fans would not be disappointed. THF started the batting with a Double by Goldstein on the second pitch from GP. After making two outs Brennan hit a single to drive in a run before GP was able to close out the inning. Brennan took the mound in the first inning and promptly left it after recording three straight outs, two of which were K's. Though not in three straight hitters, Sidhu was also able to pitch a scoreless inning. Then, in the bottom of the second inning the Sharingans made a big mark, driving in four runs against Goldstein, whose fielding did not hold up to its reputation. Coming into the third inning down 4 - 1, things looked bleak for THF, especially as they had to face Sidhu's powerful fastball that held them scoreless the previous inning. With two outs Sidhu looked in control, but good batting eyes and control problems led Sidhu to walk in a run before calling GP in for relief. The first pitch from GP hung slightly, and with one swing
of the bat Goldstein put THF in the lead with a three run triple. GP then struck out Brennan to end the inning. In the third inning Brennan managed to hold the Sharingans to one single before ending the game with his third and fourth strikeouts of the day.
