| Both teams came in 0-1, hungry for a win. They were also hungry for their first hit of the season. The hunger showed, as Evan & Scott raced to a 5-0 lead against Schiller on top 1, featuring 2 triples by Buxbaum and a homer by Young. Buxbaum then found out that their opposition was just as eager on bottom 1, allowing Schiller and Chaplin to even the score at 5. Schiller was a homer shy of hitting for a cycle. With the score tied 5-5, Chaplin came in and halted Evan & Scott's offense. Buxbaum also settled down, pitching an efficient 1-2-3 inning to set the stage for the last inning. Chaplin got two quick outs on top 3, but then suddenly lost control. After Buxbaum's single and 4 walks, Evan & Scott had taken a 2-run lead. That was enough lead as Young pitched a scoreless half inning to seal the game. Evan & Scott improves to 1-1, while Vernon & Matt drops to 0-2. |
