elemental fire

winter, 2000

Bonfire against the snow,
Tongues of flame leaping, straining,
Beside the frozen sea.
To burn, be consumed in immortal flame!
To dance wildly in the frigid night,
Losing mortal burdens, mundane cares
To a searing, wanton purity.
To live, to be free
Until the rain comes and all are ashes.
