ABSTRACT

The purpose of the lab is to familiarize ourselves with standard SSI/MSI components, using a breadboard, and designing simple combinational circuits. Our first task was to take a 4-bit binary input with an additional parity bit and build a parity checker to detect accidental single bit flips as well as a circuit to determine if the input was a prime. Our second task was to correctly operate a traffic light intersection through use of a timer chip. Finally, circuits were redesigned with sole use of NAND gates to demonstrate their ability to form a complete logic system.
