The DJ’s will be Nii Saka And Steven. Before the party people will be needed to setup. So far we have Nii Addy and the dj’s volunteering. We do need more people so please come over at 8:30pm to Paces to help (contact Steven, Harriet, Tsiri or Naa Aku if you are going to help or please just come around at 8:30, Thank You.) Afterwards we will also need people to clean up. So far for that we have Kwaku and Bubu. As before we need more people for that too. There is a possibility that we may be cooking (frying plantain) for the party. This is being taken care of by Harriet, Grace, Emily, Imo and Bubu.
SASA/SOCA/SAS get
together.
Harriet has talked to representatives from the other groups and there is a tentative date set for this event in the distant future.
According to Emily, Tim Smalls of the BCC will be talking to members of SASA/SOCA/SAS to see what function the BCC serves for them. More clarification to come on this.

Minutes for meeting held on Wednesday, 28th September 2000
The meeting took place in Sharples and started at 5:30pm. In attendance were the entire executive board and about ten members.
Old issues discussed were:
.The first SASA Party
.Communication between The Club and other college campuses
.The new suggestions e-mail account
.The club’s
debt
.Club- African Alumni relations
.Club newsletter
.Web page
New issues were:
.Board assignment
There was some debate on whether this party should be postponed. The final decision was to stick with the planned date of Friday, October 6th. Publicity will thus be started on campus and TRICO colleges will be contacted too.
Communication between the Club
and other colleges
Tsiri is still working hard on this and will soon have a definite list of contacts.
The new suggestions e-mail account
Even though last week the suggestion for the creation of this account was not disputed, this week objections were raised by some members who felt, such anonymity was not needed in the club. Also since messages could be sent from this account, it was felt by some that some unscrupulous persons could send unsavory e-mails form this address. Thus a new idea welcomed by all present was to just have a section on the SASA web page where members could post suggestions etc.
The Club’s debt- the saga continues…
A temporary phone number has been located for the restaurant owner. Anteneh will try and contact him in the coming week. Selma is also willing to pay some amount but that will be possible for her in a month’s time.
Alumni relations
Nii Addy suggested we improve contact with alumni e.g. send out a yearly newsletter, alumni dinners etc. After much discussion, it was decided we start with a newsletter by e-mail or on our website.
Club Newsletter
This is going to be created as part of our website.
Board Assignment
Seems there is a mix up. Harriet and Tsiri will recheck the board assignment.
Website
It is coming under way thanks to Tsiri and Nii Addy.
Minutes for
meeting held on Wednesday, 21st September 2000
The meeting took place in Sharples and started at 5:00pm. In attendance were the new and old executive and several members. The new executive consists of Harriet Williams and Stephen Armah – co presidents, Naa Aku Addo-secretary, Tsiri Agbenyega- public relations officer and Anteneh Tesfaye remains as treasurer. A very big Thank you to our old executive and also to everybody for voting.
Old issues discussed were:
.The club’s debt
New issues were:
.The first SASA Party
.Communication
.Club- African Alumni relations
.Club newsletter
.Web page
.Board assignment
.Activities for the term
.Relations with SOCCA and SASS.
The club’s debt
A short synopsis: the receipts for the SASA dinner held last year went missing. Unfortunately the restaurant burned down so new receipts could not be had. SBBC needs receipts and thus we are indebt to them for about $300.
After much discussion it was decided to contact Selma (since she has connections to the restaurant and had the largest responsibility for the receipts) and see whether she’ll be willing to pay or knows how we could get into contact with the restaurant owners.
Activities for the term
The executive proposed a variety of activities for the term: club trip to six flags; a party; Africa day - a day of talks, presentations, documentary showings etc with possible themes of Politics in Africa, Economic situation. Possible speakers include Kofi Annan, Nelson Mandela and Sorious Samura.
Also Tsiri is planning a play, more to come on that.
Communication
To improve communication both within the club and with the club and other bodies the following were suggested:
Establish contacts with TRICO and neighbouring colleges’ African communities.
Update the web site.
Set up an anonymous e-mail account for suggestions etc
Create a club logo to be used on posters, as a letterhead etc
Establish contact with BCC Director, Tim Sams
Nii Addy’s alumni relations idea.
Publish newsletter on web page perhaps.
SASA, SOCCA and SAS relations
We would like to see an improvement in interclub relations with these two clubs. Possible move could be to have a cook out.
