Jason Lytle is a genius. So he made a band with two guys named Kevin and Aaron, who play bass and drums, respectively. They hung out in Modesto with their skateboards under their arms and made music. Meanwhile Jim got really good at guitar, and was in a band that often played with the three piece Grandaddy. They all spent a lot of time together, and eventually Jim was added to the roster. Tim, who loves keyboard and piano, started playing with Grandaddy for fun, until it was so fun that he had to join too. And so these five crazy guys were joined to form one of the most amazing bands ever in the whole world.

Grandaddy hit the bigger scene with their first major release "Under the Western Freeway," which came out in 1997. There was some trouble getting this record out in America, so it was released first in Europe. When it did come out in the U.S. lots of people liked it, and much critical acclaim was exclaimed by the press.

Nowadays, the band is just done releasing the "Signal to Snow Ratio" ep along with their second real comercial record, "The Sophtware Slump".
