Weekend in Grenoble

For Bastille Day weekend, I went with Corry, Chris, and Janice to Grenoble. It was just a short two-hour train ride from Geneva. Here are my camarades by the Isere river that runs through the city.

To the north of the city is a huge old fort, built in the 16th century to fend off invaders. This cable car goes up to the top (note the soccer balls!), but we decided to walk.

Here I am with Corry on a platform on the way up.

There was some exercise equipment -- along with instructues -- on the way up.

Corry and Chris trying out the exercises.

Chris tries to lift himself up with his arms, while Corry laughs. Chris and I could just hang there, but Corry managed to go almost all the way across.

Chris, Janice, and me on the steps of the fort.

The view from the top was fantastic.

Aren't these stairs awesome?

Here's Corry and me in some of the new clothes we bought. Note the matching jackets and cute shoes. :)

After dinner, we walked around Grenoble and ended up by the river. Here's Chris, Janice, and Corry. At least two of them are looking pretty stylish. :)

Some artist had created all these lights along the river wall. They didn't come out very well in this photo, but I think it's enough to get the idea.

Sunday morning we went to the Musee de Grenoble, which had an impressive collection of art and some fabulous temporary exhibits. Afterwards, we had a kebab lunch, and then we ended up at this cafe. It was perfect for having a coffee, getting out of the cold, and eating our yummy desserts from the patisserie across the street.
