charcoal may 23, 1999
I was telling my mom the other day that one of the reasons the web has been so exciting for me is that it feels like the first thing I really taught myself. "That's not entirely true," she said. "You taught yourself how to draw."

The summer after seventh grade, I decided I wanted to be able to draw things and make them look realistic. I practiced drawing the models in Sassy magazine. I drew all summer, taught myself how to see shapes and lines and shadow, and I got pretty good. I don't draw models in fashion magazines much anymore, but I still have a weakness for drawing faces.

Lately I've been wanting to do charcoal. It's messy and loud and vibrant, and it's just what I want late at night when I can't fall asleep yet and my hands and my eyes want something to do...
a sketch i did in eighth grade ...and a sketch i did in high school a photograph of a collage i did last fall painting... but not on a canvas...
send me stuff!
