It has definitely been a while since I've updated my pages, specifically this journal. I haven't had access to the net except for email sometimes. To tell you the truth though, I've found myself spending an enormous amount of time with a chica named Laura. This is the girl I mentioned before who I had a crush on. We hang out like 5 times a week after work and on the weekends. I'm also glad to say that she is my girlfriend now and not just a crush- which seems weird to write still. Because I haven't written for a month, you have missed everything that happened in my life and I think that this information is important in understanding how it came about that I'm going out with Laura. It sure has been a full month. I'll try to catch you up as much as possible.
First of all, Jackie knows about Laura. We've had numerous talks in general and specifically about her. She knows that I like her a lot and that we're going out. She sent me an email a few days ago which... how do I say what I mean? It touched me. It feel really sincere. I really appreciated her insight. [I'll write more later today.]
I'm very tired but I wanted to write a little something. The Jackson School newspaper project is going well. Tomorrow two of the classes, the third and seventh grade, will finish their articles. Then on Monday we will type up the articles and edit them. By next week at this time, Jacob and I will be doing layout for the paper. I'm very excited that this paper is actually going to work out. Though, I probably shouldn't have a favorite project I can't help but feel a lot more connected to Jackson Elementary School. I have been part of the planning for the present five classes since City Year entered their classrooms. I really want this project to continue next year, but I realize what a challenge that is going to be. The principal, Dr. Panek, doesn't like us very much. At the very least that's the feeling that I get. I think that the newspaper could really add a lot to the school. I would personally love to continue the program as an afterschool club next year. Only I don't think that Dr. Panek is going to support that idea. I will do my best to get next year's Furness team into Jackson. Hopefully, I will even get to be there myself.
Anyway, it's starting to lightning and I don't want to fry the computer... at least not with me on it.... So, I guess I'll go now. Oh, by the way, the official name of the Jackson School Newspaper- as chosen by the students today by secret ballot- is "Go, Jackson School!".
I am reading this book, This Much I Know Is True, by Wally Lamb. The main character is an identical twin who's twin is paranoid schizophrenic. There is something about Wally Lamb's books that makes me question my life. In a very real way. Especially my mental health. It's weird that I haven't explained my recent bout of depression. It has made a large imprint on my life and has changed my life's course forever.
