My mother is the third oldest out of four children. She has two older brothers and a younger sister. All of my mother's mother's- that would be my grandmother- children live in Philadelphia except for the oldest who lives in North Carolina. All of my grandmother's children are divorced or separated except for the younger boy. Everyone's living on their own except for my mother. (Not that anyone wants to admit it...) Everyone is white except for my aunt. No one talks about or understands that one. In fact, we don't talk about much as a family. We don't really sit down and discuss issues. I'm not sure how we deal with them. I guess maybe people don't feel that the issues are that important. Maybe they're not. Who's to say?
