"Metroid and the Mother Brain" lyrics by Benjamin Newman music adapted from the theme from Super Metroid by Kenji Yamamoto and Minako Hamano / Am - G E / / C G F E / F G E -Am / ... / Once a mighty pirate race, the scourge of all the stars, Captured a science vessel coming home from a world afar, And from it stole a specimen the like of none they'd seen, With four sharp teeth and a crimson brain in a bulbous mass of livid green. When the specimen was thawed, and it came back to life, They found it had a deadly pow'r more sharp than any knife. Many men it wounded sore, and many it did slay, For where it clung, though it drew no blood, it somehow sucked the life away. Word came down from the pirate queen to bring it back to base; For, with an army of such creatures, they could conquer all of space! Good soldiers, now you know the tale, your mission should be plain: It is your fate to exterminate the Metroid and the Mother Brain! The fleet set off for the Outer Rim in search of the pirate thieves. And they followed the trail 'til it grew stale at the fortress-planet Zebes; And there, at last, they met their match, and the pirates' strength we learned: We sent a whole platoon to that barren moon, and not a single man returned! Our hope is not in force of men, or in mighty war machines, But to send a single hunter in, unlooked for and unseen; There's not a man of the Space Police who's equal to the quest, So we turn again to the bounty men, and I think this time we want the best! So it's up to you, Samus Aran, and all the tricks you've got, To infiltrate the planet Zebes, and do what we could not; If you return, then you shall earn great wealth and lasting fame, And we'll drink to you as the one who slew the Metroid and the Mother Brain! I was born, and lived in peace, on the planet K2L, 'Til the pirates came to murder and maim, and make our world a hell. The Chozo found me in the wreck, and raised me as their own, And I touched their flame, and I took their name, and I became Samus Aran. They tought me how to run and jump, and to roll into a ball, And how to fire beam and blast to shatter any wall, And how to hate that pirate scum that me an orphan made: With a body that's a weapon, and an anger that shall never fade! So I to Zebes will gladly go, and I'll take up the fight, And I will save the galaxy, and set these wrongs to right! E'en if the fight were mine alone, revenge my only gain, Still I'd not rest 'til I had bested Metroid and the Mother Brain! So all through Brinstar's rocky halls, and Norfair's molten glass, Into the pirates' hidden hideouts I shall, silent, pass; And from the thieves I'll boldy steal the gear that I will need, And I will lurk in the watchful dark, and do my work with deadly speed. And I will find the pirate capains: Ridley, yes, and Kraid. I'll ply them full of missiles and I'll send them to their graves. And from their bones I'll build a bridge, and the chasm I will span, And roll across to the final boss's secret base in Tourian. In Tourian I'll meet these "Metroids" face-to-face at last; I'll freeze them with an ice beam, followed up with a missile blast! And I will bring the pirates woe, and I will show them pain, And their base will blow when I've faced my foes: the Metroid and the Mother Brain.. / F G E FGAm / 'Til the League of Worlds should call this girl to hunt the Metroid once again!
