"Many Pikmin" lyrics and music by Benjamin Newman, after "A Toast for Unsung Heroes" by Leslie Fish / D GD GA D / D GD G A / 1st / / A spaceman stands on an unknown world lit by an unknown star, With the pieces of his broken spaceship scattered near and far; It would take a hundred hands to repair his ship and get him home, But his fate looks grim, 'cause it's only him, on a hostile world, alone! He tears his eyes from the rocket's wreck and takes a look around, 'Til he stumbles on nest of creatures growing in the ground: Like animals they walk about, like plants they grow from seeds, And they seem to want to follow him -- could they be the help he needs? /: D - GA D / GA D GA D :/ 1st / G - A - / 1st / 2nd / Step by step the longest road can be run, can be run! Many hands can lift a load, singly none, singly none! A dozen pikmin move a stone each could not budge alone... Many friends will get you home, singly none, singly none! The spaceman's found the place his ship's main engine chanced to fall, And with twenty pikmins' help it's been retrieved and reinstalled. Though still not fit for open space, his ship can fly once more, And other regions of this world lie open to explore. Next dawn begins his search anew, in a distant forest glade, Where pikmin-eating creatures lurk beneath the dappled shade. To find the pieces of his ship, he'll have to clear a path, And if pikmin look like easy prey, they are deadly in their wrath! Any battle, blow by blow, can be won, can be won! Many wounds can fell a foe, singly none, singly none! And together what you will can be accomplished still... Many pikmin make the kill, singly none, singly none! He's found three kinds of pikmin now, with different strengths and skills -- A dozen spaceship parts retrieved, a hundred hard-fought kills -- And every foe defeated, brought back to the pikmins' nest, Is food to feed more pikmin who can aid him on his quest. Now, thirty days is all the spaceman's suit can persevere Against this planet's toxic oxygenic atmosphere. His ship must be repaired and headed homeward before then, But it finally seems possible, with the help of all his friends. Every day the bravest deeds can be done, can be done! Pikmin sprout from many seeds, one by one, one by one! So many dangers you got past, your troubles seemed so vast... Many heroes win at last, singly none, singly none!
