We are responsible for our sound equipment, and the Budget Committee will not continue to give us money if we do not protect their investment. The money for our stuff comes from tuition dollars so...

No Off-Campus Use of Equipment

THERE IS NO OFF-CAMPUS USE OF EQUIPMENT! If you have a gig off-campus, use your own stuff, get your club/producer/sponsor to provide it, or rent it with your own money -- get paid.

Inventory

A complete and up-to-date inventory will be visibly posted in the Soundmachine. If it is not posted, then the director should be notified. An on-line version of this inventory will be posted and updated by Ethan starting the Fall 1996 semester (uh, maybe the 1997 fall semester). Point is- report broken stuff quickly. You don't necessarily get in trouble for breaking things. Drunk people get in trouble, clumsy people do not. The capital-replacement-fund, maintained by SAC, is huge. As long as we can explain (in English and without laughing, but trust me we don't laugh) why something was broken, we can get money to get a new one.

Theft/Loss

At the beginning of every rehearsal, each band should check the room to make sure everything is there. If something is missing, leave a note and notify the directors ASAP. If you can reach the director at the beginning of your scheduled rehearsal time and say that something is missing, it will keep you out of trouble. If you don't call and the next band calls in something missing, you are in deep shit and if you didn't take the stuff you will have the responsibility of finding out who did and getting them to bring it back/pay/etc. THINGS DO NOT DISAPPEAR.

Breakage

There is a difference between things wearing out and people breaking them. Drum heads get weaker over time, and eventually someone hits them for the the last time, not their fault. On the other hand, someone trying to be Thurston Moore blows a guitar amp, its their fault. Note that drummers are not given a liscence to break heads at whim. No use of broken sticks, etc... Reporing procedures for breakage are the same as for theft or for loss: leave a note an notify the director ASAP; take the blame if you broke something. Be a responsible member and don't break things. That pisses everyone off.

Official Reports of Equipment Loss or Damge

For any piece of equipment lost, stolen, or broken, the director will issue an official report of what happened. Everyone involved should have an input into the report. The report will go to Soundmachine members, the Student Activities Director (Devirah Timm-Dinkins) and Budget Committee if necessary. This will help establish credibility and better programs for the future. Go team.
