Motherpuckers is an intramural ice hockey organization at Swarthmore College. Managed by students and funded by the College, Motherpuckers is open to the entire student body. Sessions are held twice a week during normal hockey months (October through March, sometimes early April) at night on Sundays and Thursdays.

Sessions are run "pick-up" style. Every session begins and ends with a short free-skate period. The bulk of the sessions, though, are the lines. Divided by (lack of) ability level, the lines are meant to promote fair and fun competition - and occasionally a bit of comedy. Each line gets 4 minutes at a time to play, and teams usually consist of 5 players or less per team.

Players of all skill levels (even level 0) are welcome at Puckers. We are not a club team; hell, we're not a team at all. Just a bunch of kids who love to play hockey. Even if you've never skated before, Puckers is the place to be. The worst that will happen to you is a bruised ass and a severe mocking from your friends.

Due to the general expense involved in ice hockey, Puckers provides everything - that's right, everything - that our participants will need. This includes skates, sticks, helmets, pucks, and even goalie equipment. The best part: all of this is ABSOLUTELY FREE to Swarthmore students. Even the ice-time is free of charge. This is what happens when you have one of the largest budgets on campus (which, by the way, gets bigger every year).

What does all of this mean? There's no reason for you to miss puckers. Correction: there are only a few reasons to miss puckers (examples: broken leg, missing leg, in prison). Too much work is no excuse! Especially when you consider that there is no preparation time for Puckers. We even pick you up in a Swarthmore van and drive you to the rink, which is only five minutes away! So just bring yourself to a session. You don't need cash, skates, a stick, a helmet, or even pants. That's right, show up in your underwear and we'll let you play. We don't care. We just want you to have fun.
