Chlo‘ Dowley Õ99 has been working with children in many different capacities for nearly ten years. She has also tutored Chapter One children in a summer school program and more recently she worked at a summer camp where she spent eight weeks with preadolescent girls. Since coming to Swarthmore, she has familiarized herself to some extent with the local communities through volunteering for Trekking and Leadership in Chester (TLC) and the Homework Enrichment Program (HEP). She is also currently co-coordinator of the Urban Gardening Group (UGG). Chlo‘Õs academic interests in her four semester at Swarthmore have focused on education and gender issues, as well as multiculturalism. Through implementing the Summer Community Learning Project, she hopes to gain experience both working with girls to address the critical issues which arise as they approach adolescence and in the administrative aspects of running a summer program. In the future she hopes to continue working with young girls, in the U.S.and abroad. Chlo‘ plans to graduate with a special major in Sociology /Anthropology and Education.
