Co/Motion grew out of a program called SCLP (Summer Community Learning Program) which ran from 1995 - 1997, when its founding members graduated. We saved SCLP's website out of interest and sentimentality.

Co/Motion was founded in the Fall of 2001 by Sorelle Friedler '04 and Stefanie Fox '04. We spent the first year planning and had our first summer camp the summer of 2002. We learned a lot from SCLP's example, and based much of our program on what they did. We have also had the opportunity to learn from their mistakes, especially from watching their program die out. It is very important to us that this program continues long after we have graduated. To this end, we have started compiling the e-mails that we sent to each other in the first year of this program so that if it dies out again, or if someone at another school would like to start a similar program, they will have our efforts as a guide for how to make a program like Co/Motion.
