--Vision Discussion:
This is essentially what Becca wrote on the posterboard in lovely hand
writing. We discussed what we wanted to do with the project, what we
wanted to make sure happened on both large and small scale:
-be mentor AND a friend especially at this crucial age
-be there to help build self esteem
-break up expected teenage girl stereotypes
-have the process go both ways, a learning experience for us as well as
the girls
-be an influence (not a negative one like the media, but to stand in
opposition to it--show them that a girl can be "cool" without having to
be girly, dumb, cute, etc.)
-have them teach each other about their different worlds, share their
worlds, become friends
-break down boundaries
-get to know people who have had different opportunities
-be a role model
-try new things

--Then we BRAINSTORMED about what needs to get done. The two main
catagories were curriculum and logistics. For curriculum right now, you
all have what Sorelle sent, and if you can, ask your little sisters what
they would enjoy.
Here is our LOGISTICS list, unfortunately, I don't remember the 'tiers':
-number of girls=about 15
-insurance
-lifeguard, CPR
-faculty sponsor
-housing
-food, meals
-field trips (permission, to Philly, to each other's towns, community
-MONEY
-t shirts
-recruitment
-making community, possibily sponsorship ties/letter

hey all, we had a wonderful meeting tonight! if you missed it and would still like to be on this list (while we talk about logistics and send out meeting minutes and get generally excited...) please let me know. otherwise, i'll take you off and transfer you to the contact list. also - unless there are any objections (please be sure to speak up!) we are going to change our meeting time to sundays at 8 so that lela and lauren (who stopped by after the meeting) can make it. so.... see you next sunday at 8! sorelle
