We collected stuff for the grant and went over some details.
Becky and Liz looked at Karen Mazza's comments on the Medical Release and
Hold Harmless forms.
Assignments:
Becky and Liz - revise the forms. and maybe you guys could go in to talk
to her together since it looks like we'll be doing a lot with her and it
would be great if we all got to know her.
Liz - Find out when Strath Haven Middle School ends for the year.
Becky - Find out when the Chester School District ends.
Sarah W - a reminder that we need to know about the WRC
Sarah K - a reminder to check if dining services can donate food.
Sarah C or someone else?? - Write a draft of an opening letter that we
would send to faculty and staff briefly describing the program and saying
what the procedure is for replying.
Sorelle - get the e-mail address changed to comotion.
We then had an excellent conversation about sexual
assault/awareness. Lauren, our awesome SMART person, told us that Sexual
Assault Awareness week is in two weeks and she's looking for suggestions
for ways to get the word out on campus. We talked again about the drinks/
rape drug problem on campus and how again this weekend there were a number
of people who had one drink and were totally drunk. ): For sexual
assault situations or situations where you need to say no, we talked about
knowing in advance your comfort with all possibilities, or knowing what
you're not comfortable with. Checking some of the in-the-moment
romanticism. That everyone should be responsible for checking with their
partner to see if something is ok and that this can be done in funny or
gentle ways. We started talking about how we could address these issues
with the girls - perhaps just as a discussion and suggesting that they
think about their own boundaries in advance, not just for this issue but
also about drugs or other peer-pressure things.
Hopefully we'll get a chance to have more conversations like this. It was
great. (:
