november 19th: hard stuff

hi everyone.
Sorry i haven't been able to make it to the meetings. I was looking
at my stuff from camp and had the following questions.

-There is alot of sort of hard material (hard emotionally)
such as discloseurs of abuse, dangerous campers, eating disorders,
etc. I could see this being done as one morning or afternoon (and it
being a intense day). Or I could see spliting it into 2 or 3 shorter
sessions. (There are some natural breaks so it wouldn't feel
incomplete after the first session. They could each be
selfcontained). What would you ladies prefer? I know these things
are harder for some to talk about than others. If you are one of
those people would everything at once be too overwhelming?

-Secondly, when would you like those sessions to be (am I
right when I assume people thought they'd be in the second semester)

-Thirdly, I also found a bunch of stuff about girls (self
esteem, breaking down gender bariers, activites which facilitate
these, etc) Is this something people would be interested in? I
could do a session/explaination thing about those too (it would be
much shorter and more informal than the other sessions), or I could
just photocopy info and give it to whoever is the person who should
have it. (In addition to the copies I could explain it to the one
person (whoever that point person is)).

-Lastly, I just wanted to remind people that I have alot of
random knowledge about working with girls that age. (attention span,
level of independance, emotional/social development, etc.) I wanted
to put myself out as a resource for you all. Feel free to ask me
questions, or run stuff by me (especially stuff like structure of the
day, and curriculum).

Hope everyone is doing well. Have a great thanksgiving.
-Becca
