february 4th: logistics write-up

We have this section formatted nicely in Word, but, sadly, it is Word
for
Macs. Liz regrets that she remains an oblivious Mac user in a PC-happy world,
and will figure out how to get this into a PC friendly format and conform to
the dominant culture in time to get several bazillion copies of this printed
out for the info session.
Please send us any comments or suggestions that you have on this
section,
and tell us if there's anything we forgot to put in. By the way, Elizabeth
protected the sacred paper very nicely, and you should commend her for this
when you see her.

                                        2(Elizabeth)

Dates, Times, and Other Nuts and Bolts Dates: Monday, June 17 to Sunday, June 23, with an overnight from 9 p.m. Saturday night until Sunday morning Times: The program will run daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you are unable to drop off or pick up your daughter at the campus at these times because of work or other scheduling conflicts, we can help meet your needs, whether by arranging car pools or allowing your daughter to come earlier or leave later than the standard times. Hold Harmless and Medical Release Forms: Please be sure to read these two forms carefully, since they explain all liability, insurance, and medical care issues regarding the program. We are happy to answer any questions that you may have about these forms. Day to Day Operations: We plan to offer a range of activities that will both encourage girls to discover new talents and interests and help them to learn how to survive and thrive as an adolescent female in today^Òs world. Our daily schedule will be divided among physical activities such as self- defense training and sports played in an environment that stresses learning and having fun over competition; explorations of skills such as woodworking and web design that some girls may never have even considered trying before; art and performance activities, like making tie-dye t-shirts and putting on informal theater skits; and discussions of stereotypes, self-esteem, and several other issues which we will talk about more later in this information session. Cost: Thanks to the generosity of the Swarthmore Foundation in funding CO/ MOTION, the only cost to you is a $20 fee. If this fee presents any financial difficulties to you, please talk to a CO/MOTION staffer to get it waived. CO/MOTION will pay for all lunches and snacks during the program. How to Register: Registration forms should be turned in through campus mail to Sarah Cohodes. Forms must be in to Sarah by Friday, March 1. Please note that your answers on the registration form will in no way affect your daughter^Òs chance of being selected for CO/MOTION. Also, no money should be included with the registration form. The fee for the program will be paid with enrollment. From these forms, 16 girls will be randomly selected to participate in the program. The CO/MOTION staff will notify you whether or not your daughter has been picked for the program no later than Monday, March 4. CITS: CO/MOTION will be interviewing high school students who attended SCLP in order to find 3 counselors in training for the program.
