The Queen Amidala Tribute Page is, of course, dedicated to one of the most important characters in the Star Wars Universe: the beautiful and mysterious Queen Amidala. Played by Natalie Portman, she is the Queen of planet Naboo, and as we will presumably discover later in the trilogy, the mother of Luke and Leia. She is hunted by Darth Maul and falls under the protection of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Jedi Master, Qui-Gon Jinn, when Naboo is overrun by the Trade Federation's battle droids. With the help of her loyal handmaidens, the Queen is able to pose as the handmaiden Padme Naberrie when necessary. Now that the first movie is in theaters, you don't have to worry about spoilers. However, I will be continuing my no-spoiler policy for the second episode.

Here's what Natalie Portman had to say in Premiere's "Star Wars Spectacular" issue about starring in the prequels:

"It was a huge commitment," Portman says. Not only had Lucas not finished the script, but at fourteen, she was facing a three-film contract that carried nearly a ten-year obligation. ("And I still don't know if acting is what I want to do with the rest of my life," she says.) What's more, the part of the teenage Anakin Skywalker, her love interest in the second film, was (and remains) uncast. And then there was the little detail about how her life would never be the same again. "I've had a cool career so far because I've been able to do things that I'm proud of, but no one recognizes me on the street," Portman explains. "Giving that up, which will inevitably happen when the movie comes out, was a big thing to think about. But then I thought, You know what? This is gonna be fun!"
