Swarthmore College Community & Diversity Festival
Parrish Beach - Sunday, May 7, 12:00-6:00 PM

What is Harambe?

Harambe, a Swahili word meaning "togetherness", will be a festival celebrating the cultural, sexual, ideological, political and religious diversity which makes the Swarthmore community special. The express purpose of Harambe is to bring together all of the disparate parts of the Swarthmore College community so that we can share our talents and ideas with one another, and in sharing learn to treasure, not simply tolerate, our differences. Events will take place outside on Parrish "beach" and will include music and dance performances, arts and crafts booths, face painting and clowns, food vendors, and various participatory booths and games. Harambe is open to students, faculty, staff, and community members from Swarthmore, Chester and other nearby areas. Children and friends are especially welcome!

We sincerely hope you and your family will join us for this unique celebration.
