Daniel Pensak's Home Page
(IHP People - Please drop me a note!)
Welcome to my Home Page! I am in the Class of '98 at Swarthmore College (in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania), although next year I will be "out of town" studying global ecological and development issues in England, India, The Philippines, New Zealand, and Mexico under the International Honors Program. Any e-mail sent to my Swarthmore e-mail address will automatically be forwarded to my present e-mail address. Right now I am working furiously on Harambe, a new festival at Swarthmore to celebrate community. Please check out the list of events & come join us at Swarthmore if you live in the area!
My home (not defined as where I live as of late) is back in Seattle, where I grew up since the age of 9. (I was born in Cambridge, Massachussettes and I lived in Newton, a suburb of Boston, until my mother and I moved to Seattle.) I highly recommend that you visit the Pacific Northwest sometime and check out the beautiful water, mountains, and climate that make this region unforgettable.
As you may have already guessed, I love to travel. Some of my favorite trips so far have been bicycle camping in France, studing river development issues in Chile and Washington State, and travelling by boat, plane, foot, car and ferry in Alaska.
I am particularly interested in environmental issues and their relationship with all other disciplines (economics, politics, education, engineering, biology, etc. - you name it!). I may end up doing a special major in Environmental Studies here at Swarthmore, although the requirements are pretty set (i.e. there isn't a heck of a lot of choice left about which courses to take, because they just don't teach that many environmentally-oriented courses.)

Great Blue Heron Card
This is one of my favorite cards, because it reminds me of the Great Blue heron which sits on the tree by our house and sometimes flies overhead, its long neck strangely folded up...
