IC INTERNS MEETING

MINUTES

OCTOBER 21 ST , 2003

(all present)

We began with some talk of developing a key list for access to the IC. Powen and Jyothi will be working together to develop this list, communicating with IC groups on who will be added. A model is to have 3 people per group have access to keys in addition to the interns. These three people would be decided by the groups themselves. We need to figure out whether the kitchen keys are different and whether there is a way to make sure that the keys that open the IC can be made to not open other doors on campus.

Things to consider with this key list include ways to manage accountability with use of the keys and at the same time leave space for the spontaneity of having access to the IC space. Also, a discussion is continuing about whether interns should have a copy of the key and ways that interns are kept accountable for this responsibility and what it means to be serious about security, etc while at the same time allowing for IC groups to get into the space more easily if needed. What added responsibilities could the interns take on, and would these responsibilities entail greater training of interns?

We are still in search of a DVD player for the IC (continuing conversation) and a possible digital camera.
