IC INTERNS MEETING
MINUTES
OCTOBER 21 ST , 2003
(all present)
We began with some talk of developing a key list for access to the IC. Powen and Jyothi will be working together to develop this list, communicating with IC groups on who will be added. A model is to have 3 people per group have access to keys in addition to the interns. These three people would be decided by the groups themselves. We need to figure out whether the kitchen keys are different and whether there is a way to make sure that the keys that open the IC can be made to not open other doors on campus.
Things to consider with this key list include ways to manage accountability with use of the keys and at the same time leave space for the spontaneity of having access to the IC space. Also, a discussion is continuing about whether interns should have a copy of the key and ways that interns are kept accountable for this responsibility and what it means to be serious about security, etc while at the same time allowing for IC groups to get into the space more easily if needed. What added responsibilities could the interns take on, and would these responsibilities entail greater training of interns?
We are still in search of a DVD player for the IC (continuing conversation) and a possible digital camera.
Michelle
- Korean Peace Day is currently being organized. Possible funding sources could include: Asian Studies, Political Science, History, FFS, and the IC. We should get a proposal ready as soon as possible and begin securing funds.
- Also, Rafael needs to email Chul Pak, the Korean alumni who recently contacted the IC about getting more involved as a mentor. Write to him to connect him to Michelle, as they will need to be in contact with each other.
- APA Womens Leadership Workshop. SAO needs to email Rafael with names of 8 women attending.
- A meeting needs to be organized to plan for APA Heritage Month (occurring in the spring). The meeting could be catered (paid for my Rafael). This meeting will serve for SAO to think about ways to organize the planning of APA Hertiage Month. Possibilities include it functioning as a network or coalition of people interested, so that SAO delegates events out to other interested organizers. Think about how could get funding through admissions if coincides with admitted students weekend.
- Set up a committee to make the decisions regarding planning for the month. Think about ways to minimize craziness and chaos of last minute preparations.
- Meeting date set for next SAO meeting (Tuesday Oct 28 th 9PM ). Create a calendar and plug in dates we already know and go from there. Encourage freshmen to get involved.
