I. Updates
Michelle:
- With regard to the IC website, Lester is not going to continue working on the project, but he referenced Derrick as a possible web designer in addition to ITS web designers we could hire. Lester said that the info about the website and updates should be in a folder that is accessible. We should start thinking about possible links that we would want to include. This needs to be set as a priority for the IC this semester.
- Korean Peace Day Talk to Christine Shin who might be interested in organizing something for the day. Figure out time and space logistics.
- SAO held elections for 4 positions. Michelle (freshman) was elected as the APA one representative. Dom was elected as the publicity chair. Ed was elected as treasurer. And Powen was elected as the ADVICE representative.
- SAO should plan on setting up a committee or working group to think about next APA heritage month (which is next semester). It's important to begin early. Rafael is open to helping organizing this first meeting, providing food, etc so that the initial dates can be set and then events, space considerations can be plugged in. (note that we would like to set the calendar as early as possible)
- Think about possible dates for the faculty/staff luncheon.
- SAO is currently working on building a relationship with Ann Choi, new professor teaching Asian American History.
- Eugene is organizing a Filipino students group on campus.
Alejandra:
- The ENLACE retreat happened last weekend. It was really productive. The roles and jobs of the various positions/members were clarified and articulated so that everyone could be on the same page.
- ENLACE is planning on working to build a resource center for groups to provide a more organized source on information on things like scholarships and opportunities for students associated with the IC.
- Other projects include getting information to and networking with career services at swarthmore. Here a list of alumni can begin to provide the basis of a larger network of communication.
- ENLACE is also working on some community building activities and creatin t-shirts with a designed logo.
- They are planning a housewarming of the ENLACE room in the near future, looking forward to decorating for the new year.
- The luncheon for faculty and staff has been scheduled for October 7 th at 6:30 in the Scheuer room.
- Other dates include the Sharples Takeover on September 25 th and the ENLACE party on October 4 th .
- After talking to Garikai Campbell of the math department, ENLACE is planning to invite a famous Chicano mathematician to campus.
Note: think about setting up the calendar for both this semester and the next. In terms of places to advertise events, etc, Powen will work on compiling a list of deadlines for the various publications and spaces to advertise so that we can get a rough idea of when these announcements can be posted.
Powen:
- SQU held their retreat also last weekend. They set dates fort heir trips and though about community-type events for this semester and the future.
- Coming Out Week is scheduled for October 19 th 25 th

[Is there a system of getting access to long distance phone call pin numbers through student organizational budgets, or ways that the IC can have a pin number to make it easier to make such long distance calls.]
Jyothi:
- Thinking about the Beyond the Box conference, look into supplemental funds and vans/van drivers. Limit to number of students going?
- The dates for the conference are November 14-16.
Director's Concerns:
- Look into how many pots and pans we have in the IC kitchen and in the small rooms and estimate how many we would need to purchase at this point.
- Continue looking into the possible purchase of a DVD player.

- Think about what games we have in the IC and what games we would like to have in the IC (to be purchased before this study break). We can begin a collection of games to be shared. Forward to Jyothi names of games that you would like the IC to purchase.
