W3AJ Operators

Prof. Arthur McGarity, AC3V, is the trustee for our station. He teaches a number of courses on environmental engineering and policy. An experienced ham who got his Extra class license long ago, he hears stations where others only hear static, keys CW as fast as humanly possible, and makes DX contacts from a radio on his car.

Prof. Frank Moscatelli, KB3DDV (Double Dee Victor), is a Professor of Physics. The vacuum tube and crystal transceiver he used as a teenager sits in a shelf in a corner of the solar energy lab. He is back in business with his recently acquired Tech Plus license.

David King '00, AA2KV, is best known on campus for his articles in the Phoenix, the weekly student newspaper. Enjoying the privileges of his Extra license, he has maintained activity as a ham even during a semester abroad in France.

Kiyoyuki Miyasaka '03, KB3ERX (Echo Radio X-ray), once upon a time made two contacts under the club JA1YJF in Tokyo. While a reciprocal agreement exists between the U.S. and Japan, he forgot to bring his license with him. Not risking trouble with the FCC, he took the exam and got a Novice license and call sign. Read the credits: he also happens to be the one who made this website.
