This is me. My name is Claire Jeanette Weiss. I was born in Boston Mass on April 14, 1981. My family moved to San Antonio, Texas when I was 1 year old, so I consider myself a naturalized Texan. Unlike many people, I enjoyed high school, attending Robert E. Lee for my four years. I am still friends with many of the kids with whom I grew up. It's impossible to cut ties that go back to second grade or farther. At least, it's impossible for me, but more on that later. San Antonio will always be home for me, somewhere I can drive all over and not have to give a second thought to where I'm going or how to get there, let my thoughts wander, feel completely grounded there.

I dance, primarily ballet, but also swing, a little salsa, and am itching to learn more. I play oboe. That is not to say that I practice my oboe ever. Well, anymore that is. In high school, I was in band, practiced often, was first alternate to State Band my sophomore year, and was in color guard for marching season. I was guard captain my senior year. And yes, I have started phrases with "This one time, at band camp...", but always realizing what I'm saying.

I graduated from Swarthmore College in 2003, having majored in Biology at the last minute, and with a minor in Latin. I will pursue archaeology in gradschool. Archaeology is my other extreme interest, which I intend to turn into my livelyhood. I've dug in Pompeii with the Anglo-American Project in Pompeii since 2001, beginning as a student and working my way up to trench supervisor. The AAPP has been that "life changing" expirience for me. I'm sold on archaeology, now it's just a matter of getting a higher degree in it. Meantime, I'll dig during the summers in Sourthern Italy.

I collect things. Cobalt blue glass, old photos, animal skulls at one point, but mostly I collect memories. My memories. I'm psycho-sentimental. I've kept a diary since third grade. I am something of a photographer and have had a camera for most of my sentient existence. My memory collection and photography are not unrelated. I am possessed of a sentimentality that knows no bounds, otherwise manifested in my keeping quotes, recording everything, keeping programs and ticket stubs and post cards and other such memorabilia. Yes, I am a packrat to the extreme, but I'm neat and organized about it.
