ABSTRACT

For The Memory Hierarchy and Computer Performance lab, we wrote C code to test the performance of various processors in several different areas. The tests we ran fulfilled the purpose of determining the endianness of the processors, determining cache size and structure, including tests for set-associativity, determining performance differences between various number representations such as floating-point and integer representations, and determining the superscalar architecture of the processors. The processors we tested were the Intel Pentium II, the Intel Pentium III, and the Sparc UltraSparc 2.
