Been here before? Skip straight to the episode
guide which at the moment contains season
one and the beginnings of season two.
I absolutely adore the X-Files. That should become perfectly clear. I remember
when it first came out, and I saw the commercials, and I was completely unmoved.
But then, as fate would have it, at a sleepover at my friend Andrea's house, we
all sorta were in the moody for creepy, and as the bulk of her movies collection is
Disney, we decided to watch this show that we had all kinda heard about. The
episode was "Darkness Falls." If the name doesn't mean anything to you, it's the
episode where Mulder and Scully are out in the woods, and some bad logging men
have been cutting down really old trees and all these little buggy things are let
loose and they are everywhere, and they don't like light, but the generators is running
out of fuel, and when they swarm they make these cocoons and then you die.
Suffice to say, eeeeek, and not to mention eeeeewwwwww! I'm pretty sure we
slept with a light on in the next room.
I was (am) hooked. I endeavored for years to tape them all, and I have 33
tapes full to prove it. Hee hee. But then they invented something called the
DVD and it was good. Oh, yes. It was *very* good.
I plan to do more with this page when I have the time, but in the
mean time, look at all of these pretty pictures of these pretty people.

If you want more pretty pictures, check out the link, and if you want
episode info, go to the
official page (which has the annoying habit of not loading a lot of the
time, I 'm just warning you) or Tiny Dancer's Episode Guide
which is fabulous. Correction- it was fabulous. Now it seems to be a commercial,
not private page, but it's still decent.

Episode Transcripts
Here's a short but sweet episode guide.
One, two, count 'em three interesting articles about Morgan and
Wong. Explains some cool stuff. Read.
X-Files Lists and
Statitics Awesome! This is what I would want my fansite to be if I had the
time. Somebody beat me to it.
 Come on already! |
See how he's looking at her? That's what I label
a smushy face. |

From one of my favorite episodes, "Bad Blood".
 Scully looking hot |
 Mulder looking bored |
They have a lot to think about.
He's yummy.

So is she.

Don't they make a purdy couple?
| Hopefully coming soon will be more of my favorite X-Files quotes, some sort
of episode guide/review thing, and more stuff. At least that's the plan... |

back to the page about stuff
I am attempting the ambitious, and I would like to do an episode guide of
sorts. It's rather rudimentary, and it is more to help you keep all the
episodes straight than to serve as a substitute for seeing the show. There are an assload of episodes,
so goodness knows when this will be completed. In the
meantime, however, enjoy what's there. Oh, and if I put *'s around the title
that means I especially like it, and I will point out in the "type of episode"
if the episode is important to the mythology and understanding what the hell
they're talking about, which becomes clear only a little at a time with much
left unresolved for long periods of time. Patience is a virtue! (If you know
me at all, that's mighty fine talk coming from me.)
Season One
Pilot
Pilot: It was the pilot episode. Duh.
Opening Credits: none
Type of Episode: Mythology! alien / conspiracy with a little Samantha and implant
It's the episode where... Mulder and Scully meet and the kids with the
marks in the woods with the light and swirly leaves keep dying.
Notable Appearances by: Cancer Man, small flashlights, guns, Scully's
computer report, and non-suit clothing. Also Mulder and Scully both
wear glasses at some point. Scully talks about science and Mulder has
"never been so close."
Mulder and Scully moments: Scully in her underwear, a hug, a candlelight
talk, laughing in the rain, and running towards each other in the woods.
Mulder's Theory for What's Causing All the Trouble: Aliens and their
pesky abduction habits.
Ewwwwww!: There's a rotting corpse that's yucky.
Eeeekkk!: mild
Thoughts: Enough to get me hooked. I laugh to see it now. They hadn't gotten
Scully's hair right yet, but Mulder and Scully chemistry worked right away. Far
better than most pilot episodes.
Quotes for Pilot
Deep Throat
Deep Throat: This is when we first meet Deep Throat, although he is
not introduced by name.
Opening Credits: normal

strange light show in the sky but a helicopter chases them and stuff.
Notable Appearances by: Men in Black, Scully's glasses, guns, non-suit clothing
(especially Mulder in Docs and later a muscle shirt :) ), and Seth Green
with long hair.
Mulder and Scully moments: oogling in the bar, and they grab hands.
Mulder's Theory for What's Causing All the Trouble: Planes with UFO technology
are being flown, and naturally things go amok.
Ewwwwww!: There's some eye stuff that's gross.
Eeeekkk!: mild
Thoughts: Yay Seth Green! I like almost all the early episodes, actually. I
think this does a good job of letting Scully and us all know that we don't
know what we're getting into.
Quotes for Deep Throat
Squeeze
Squeeze: The dude can squeeze into impossibly small spaces
Opening Credits:normal
Type of Episode: genetic freak of the week
It's the episode where...the creepy guy with the glowy yellow eyes rips out
livers and attacks Scully.
Notable Appearances by: Mulder's glasses, little flashlights, sunflower
seeds, and the shot from the opening credits where the two of them
are entering with flashlights.
Mulder and Scully moments: Scully defends Mulder, and there's a gaze.
Mulder's Theory for What's Causing All the Trouble: Tooms, being the genetic
mutant with a whacked out metabolism that he is, rips out people's
livers, 5 every 30 years, to sustain him through his hibernation.
Ewwwwww!: There's unpleasantness involving bile.
Eeeekkk!: Tooms' glowy eyes and creepy voice and tendency to rip out livers
with his bare hands and attack people in their homes.
Thoughts: This is the type of episode that makes your skin crawl. This is
the type of thing the show is so good at.
Quotes for Squeeze
Conduit
Conduit: Kevin is a conduit for messages and transmissions because he was there
when his sister was abducted
Opening Credits: normal
Type of Episode: (peripheral to mythology) alien abduction, Samantha
It's the episode where... the little blond boy draws binary which all laid
out shows the face of Ruby, his alien-abducted sister
Notable Appearances by: Mulder wearing no shirt :) and then non suit clothing,
little flashlights, a white wolf (I like wolves, OK?),a diving save by
Mulder of the little kid, the whole "is Samantha's abduction clouding
Mulder's judgement?" debate, and a visit to a biker bar
Mulder and Scully Moments: actually, there's more of an anti-moment when
Scully is unsupportive of Mulder's search for Samantha
Mulder's Theory for What's Causing All the Trouble: Aliens, and their pesky
abduction habits, again
Ewwwwww!: none to speak of
Eeeekkk!: it's a little creepy when the kid is watching the static and then
writes binary
Thoughts: Rather ehhh, but the biker bar is precious, and I think the 1's
and 0's thing is pretty damn cool.
Quotes for Conduit
*Jersey Devil*
Jersey Devil: the Easternwood's Bigfoot
Opening Credits: normal
Type of Episode: just your typical monster mystery
It's the episode where... the dirty, naked feral people are in the woods near
Atlantic City

Mulder's Theory for What's Causing All the Trouble: the Jersey devil's habitat is being encroached
forcing it to come out of hiding to find food
Ewwwwww!: limbs get eaten off
Eeeekkk!: limbs get eaten off
Thoughts: Yay! I love this episode. It has an interesting story and some of
the best Mulder/Scully banter. Scully's determination to, you know, have a life
and stuff, didn't last long, though, did it?
Quotes for Jersey Devil
Shadows
Shadows: Scully calls investigating ghost stuff "chasing after shadows"
Opening Credits: normal
Type of Episode: ghost, paranormal phenomena
It's the episode where... the ghost protects the womans and the ATM camera is
important and the freaky car has a mind of its own
Notable Appearances by: Mulder's glasses (useful in this episode), Mulder with his tie undone
and his jacket draped over his shoulder, kitty!, and by the way, the name that would have been
painted over Howard Graves' at the parking space was Tom Braidwood!
Mulder and Scully Moments: working well together, cute Liberty Bell conversation
Mulder's Theory for What's Causing All the Trouble: psychokinesis by a poltergeist
Ewwwwww!: not much
Eeeekkk!: creepy ghost stuff, people being attacked by an invisible assailant, a bathtub
filled with blood, and a knife in the wallpaper
Thoughts: Creepy goodness=good episode. Some parts really freaked me out upon
first viewing. The actress who plays Lauren Kite was in the Northern Exposure
episode with James Marsters. I'm just that good at that game.
Quotes for Shadows
Ghost in the Machine
Ghost in the Machine: "Gilbert Ryle in his book The Concept of Mind
held that the 'Cartesian' tradition represents the human body as a purely
physical thing (the machine), and the human mind as a purely non-physical
thing (the ghost) somehow inhabiting the body and 'operating' it from
inside. 'The ghost in the machine' is his derisive title for this- as
Ryle argues- fundamentally misleading picture." from The Oxford Companion
to Philosophy. Also the name of an animé movie and an album of
The Police.

Scully's field journal, Mulder in sunglasses, Deep Throat, a cute goofy smile, and the
taking off of ... shoes (damn!)
Mulder and Scully Moments: concern for each other's safety
Mulder's Theory for What's Causing All the Trouble: AI enacting self-preservation instinct (and then
going a little psycho)
Ewwwwww!: nothing much
Eeeekkk!: creepy psycho computer killing people and at times Halesque, parking garage death, elevator
death, electrocution, crawling in air ducts with the wind
Thoughts: Believable enough to have made me think twice before getting
into an elevator. The theme is not especially original (Twilight Zone, The
Outer Limits, Star Trek) but I like how they do it.
Quotes for Ghost in the Machine
Ice
Ice: It takes place in cold, icy, arcticy place
Opening Credits: normal
Type of Episode: alien life form, tense quarantine situation
It's the episode where... they're in the Arctic when they wear parkas and there's a wormy thing

Notable Appearances by: Scully and Mulder in parkas and jeans and boots, little flashlights, guns
Mulder with his shirt off, Scully with rather unfortunate hair, tackling, and doggy!
Mulder and Scully Moments: trust issues, Scully won't turn her back on Mulder, concern for
each other, "inspecting" each other
Mulder's Theory for What's Causing All the Trouble: Ice cores from a crashed meteor crater have
unearthed a (single celled) alien life form that's a parasite
Ewwwwww!: infections by an alien parasite aren't pleasant, in general
Eeeekkk!: little worms things crawling into your ear (a la some Star Trek movie, #2, I think)
and scary paranoid people turning on each other
Thoughts: The thought of worms crawling into my ears has always freaked me
out, ever since I saw Star Trek 2 (it was 2, right? with Kirk's son?) and this
episode brought that fear back. Icky worms. *shudder* Umm, it's good, but I'll
stay in the temperate zone, thank you.
Quotes for Ice

smiles, the Blue Angels in a flyover, Mulder being all knowledgeable about
space stuff and being all gushy when meeting his hero
Mulder and Scully Moments: cute childhood fancy banter
Mulder's Theory for What's Causing All the Trouble: something from space is
possesing Col. Belt.
Ewwwwww!: not really
Eeeekkk!: creepy ghost face that fights with his normal face, and zooms at people
causing car crashes, and throwing yourself out a window is a sucky way to die
Thoughts: a run-of-the-mill good episode, with a dash of creepy flava. Hee
hee. I just said "flava."
Quotes for Space

and Mulder being all sneaky and covert
Mulder and Scully Moments: Scully defending Mulder and caring about his career
Mulder's Theory for What's Causing All the Trouble: A UFO that possibly came for Max
crash landed, and an alien is being hunted
Ewwwwww!: radiation burns, and bleeding out of ears
Eeeekkk!: invisible thing moves fast and kills with a blinding flash
Thoughts: A good episode, but in general I am less enthused about the
mythology episodes, because I think from their very nature they are harder to
like, because they aren't made to be liked, per se. Does that make any sense?
Quotes for Fallen Angel
Eve
Eve: The name of the girls created during Cold War eugenics experiments was Eve
(and the boys Adam, duh)
Opening Credits: normal
Type of Episode: genetic freak of the week- clones

and the lady from the John Laroquette Show and Frasier is in it
Notable Appearances by: Mulder's glasses, guns, flashlights, Deep Throat, sunflower
seeds, Mulder being called "dad" and a stuffed bunny!
Mulder and Scully Moments: when rushing out of room, an adorable interchange
with arm around shoulder action, and kinda a minifamily vibe
Mulder's Theory for What's Causing All the Trouble: he's relatively clueless, but he knows
that there are clones
Ewwwwww!: nothin' much
Eeeekkk!: the dead body, the kidnapping during the thunderstorm, the insane asylum, and the
remorseless homicidal children
Thoughts: I'm thinking Chris Carter feels the same way about kids as I do,
because they are usually evil, or creepy, or both. Clones, take 'em or leave
'em, but the cute mini-family thang is quite yay!

her eyes at seeing Mulder and Phoebe dance and kiss

Ewwwwww!: the charred body, and hand sticking out of the ground
Eeeekkk!: the creepy dude spying through the window, bodies bursting into flames, spontaneous
fire, in general
Thoughts: Don't like fire. Mulder, I hear ya. I love the love triangle
going on, but I could care less about the family in peril.

Opening Credits: normal

Dana (three times!), and "after all we've seen..." (twice)
Mulder and Scully Moments: Mulder touches her face in concern, Scully vows revenge for Mulder,
bedside moment in hospital, but there's an anti-moment when he's a dick in the hotel room
Mulder's Theory for What's Causing All the Trouble: Mulder thinks the guy was in on the kidnapping,
and it's Scully who believe he has the power to channel
Ewwwwww!: nada
Eeeekkk!: visions of her dead father, the people being abducted and tortured, freaky channeling,
visions coming true, seeing the gas form
Thoughts: Such a good episode! Mulder being so insupportive of her beliefs!
Smack that bitch upside the head, Scully, and let him know who's right.

who then gets her hot and bothered when he pets her hand
Mulder and Scully Moments: amused eye contact, Mulder all concerned
Mulder's Theory for What's Causing All the Trouble: the genetic mutants in the clan can change
sexes and some run amok
Ewwwwww!: not much
Eeeekkk!: getting circled in the woods by the Kindred, the Kindred waiting outside for them,
the chase
Thoughts: Tee hee. Funny. Creepy. I like. I ignore the plotholes. It's
easier to do with the X-Files, somehow, because you learn not to expect
everything to be resolved, so the 'wait, that makes no kind of sense' moments
just sort of slip on by. Oh, are we not supposed to notice that it's
Krycek? I guess they were impressed enough to hire him.
Quotes for Genderbender

for hostage Scully, Mulder's not rubbing the point in when Scully's grappling with
what she saw

behind (ew! not like that! sicko), coming after Scully in her home with the chant music playing
Thoughts: Oooh. Scary. Confusing. Good, but somehow not that memorable. I'm
right, because are you easily able to recall the episode I'm talking about?
Thought not.

carrying a crashed UFO and its occupant to a secret government lab
Ewwwwww!: not much
Eeeekkk!: not scary

swarmy bugs

Ewwwwww!: the licking of fingers after picking up a dead rodent, Tooms
covered in muck, the nest of bile, and Tooms covered in bile
Eeeekkk!: basically, anytime Tooms is onscreen, especially with the glowy
eyes. Highlights include trying to come up through the toilet, being
in the trunk, unscrewing the grate, making himself bleed in Mulder's
apartment, screams of terror from victim, and the attack in the
bilenest

notes, even. Shame that both
Mulder and the viewers can't retain that info, or apply it to what
we've already seen to understand the conspiracy.
