| Robin of Sherwood is my favorite TV show of all time. Watching it,
because of the whole being American thing, is a labor of love. I bought the PAL
boxsets. And then there was just the small matter of acquiring a VCR that can
play PAL format tapes. A small price to pay. And now I have the DVD sets!
This page will become a lot more
extensive as soon as I can watch and chronicle
the episodes, and goodness knows when that'll happen. I'm plan to make
episode transcripts when I have to time. Only one is
complete at the moment.
If you know nothing about the show, here's the
imdb link .
Here are a bunch of links to pages that are a lot more done than
mine is. episode summaries fanclub page with good links Gisburne's Nasty Knight Page Light and Darkness cool site with episode info, an amusing drinking game, and other stuff worth checking out character guide official info stuff Robin of Sherwood link Marian Link Nasir Link Will Link Episode guide a German page that's fantastic and has screencaps! When I was in Germany, I went to a used CD store and found the soundtrack, "Legend" by Clannad. In the CD liner notes is character information, that I thought was interesting. This is what they want you to know about the characters-

Robin of Loxley: Ailric of Loxley, Guardian of the Arrow, ancient symbol
of pre-Christian England, has led a rebellion against his Anglo-Norman masters.
When Ailric is murdered by Norman pillagers, his son Robin (Michael Praed) is
adopted by the local miller and the Arrow falls into the hands of the Sheriff
of Nottingham. Some years later, at the ago of 20, Robin is reluctantly cast
in the role of Saviour of the common people. Escaping from imprisonment in
Nottingham Castle, Robin and his young step-brother Much meet up with fellow
prisoner, Will Scarlet. The three fugitives escape to the comparative safety of
Sherwood Forest where they befriend other "outlaws" including John Little, the
giant, bewitched slave of Baron de Belleme. The Baron knows the significance of
the Silver Arrow and of the prediction that a hooded man will come to the forest
and meet his rival, Herne the Hunter, the forest spirit possessed with the
powers of light and darkness. Robin releases John Little from Belleme's spell,
thereby earning his eternal friendship. During a mystical encounter with Herne
the Hunter, Robin Hood is presented with his first longbow and is told by Herne,
"They are all waiting, the poor, the dispossessed ... they are all waiting..."
Robin returns to his friends as the Hooded Man- the Legend is to
become reality.
| The Lady Marion: Marion (Judi Trott) is the 17 year old daughter of the late Sir Richard at the Lea, killed in the crusades in Paleestine. Her guardian is the avaricious Abbot Hugo, brother of the Sheriff of Nottingham. Marion is pledged to become a novice at Kirkless Abbey, but she is determined to be independent of the Norman lords. She falls in love with Robin, and with the aid of Tuck, joins her beloved in the Forest. | ![]() |

Brother Tuck: Brother Tuck (Phil Rose), the Sheriff's Chaplain, is every inch the kindly, gentle monk, confidant to the Lady Marion and wise philosopher. But when the chips are down, this gentle figure proves to be more than a match for the fiercest swordsman. |
| Little John: John Little of Hathersage (Clive Mantle) is captured by the evil Baron de Belleme's men. Bewitched by the Baron's sorcery, he is sent to kill Robin, but after a fierce fight Robin releases John from the spell and, with a hint of irony, renames him Little John. | ![]() |

The Sheriff: Robert de Rainault, Sheriff of Nottingham (Nickolas Grace), is a ruthless opportunist, a corrupt and devious civil servant in a feudal society. His gods are money and power and no method is too unsavoury to acquire either. Using his henchman, Guy of Gisburne, he strikes terror into the hearts of the people by ruling his lands with fear, sword, and fire. |
| Much the Miller's Son: Much (Peter Williams) is step-brother to Robin, his father having adopted Robin after the massacre at Loxley. Much is considered a little simple- he's afraid of the dark and even his own shadow, but his love for Robin and his hatred for Gisburne, his father's murderer, fill him with new found courage. | ![]() |

Will Scarlet: Imprisoned in the dungeons of Nottingham Castle, Will Scarlet (Ray Winstone), is tortured by the memory of seeing his wife raped and killed by Norman mercenaries. He has sworn revenge and when he meets Robin he has two objectives- to escape from the damp, foul dungeon and to use Sherwood Forest as his killing ground. |
Guy of Gisburne: Sir Guy of Gisburne (Robert Addie) is the Sheriff of Nottingham's military arm. A fine swordsman, keen on hunting and hawking, he's a ruthlessly cruel killer, but, fortunately for the outlaws, is so obsessed by his killer instinct that he is apt to make stupid mistakes.

Nasir: Nasir (Mark Ryan) is another servant of the Baron de Belleme. He is a Saracen "killing machine" from Palestine, the very place where Belleme learnt his devil worship. When de Belleme's spell is broken, he surprises all the outlaws by joining them. |
There is a distinct lack of Robin of Sherwood episode transcripts on the web. Someone needs to correct that, and it looks like it's going to be me. I'm working on it, but it takes forever. Also, I'm American. I love the show, and I know what happens in every episode, but when it comes to typing it, it's a bit harder. The accents can make names and places that are unfamiliar to me really hard to understand. Sometimes it's gobbletygook and I just make it up, based on what it sounds like. Honestly, until I saw the CD liner notes, I would have sworn on anything that Little John was from "Haversage." How shocked was I to learn it was spelled "Hathersage." Silly English. Also, all the "we're Norman, not English" stuff that comes up? Yeah, I have no idea what that means.
I've finished the first episode, but it took me forEVER. Goodness know the time table, but here, one day, will be complete episode transcripts.
