Hello. My name is Dara, and I am taking CS 10. In an attempt to make computers make sense to a humanities-minded senior who needs this class not only to graduate, but also to be able to put basic computing skills on her resume, Professor Richardson has done a wonderful job of organizing the class. And here, in abbreviated format, is my version of all the information that we have learned so far:
Computers
I like to think of the class as divided into two sections. The first category has to do with the computer itself. Included in this is basic html, base 10 computing, and circuits. Of course, these areas are related to the other half of the class...
The History of Computing
This is where we learn about standing on the shoulders of giants. In addition to understanding methods used by scientists from the sixteenth century, we also look at logic and formal systems, trying to understand how they relate to the information listed above.
