started with my usual stop at Hong Kong, great hub to go anywhere else in
Asia. Everything was going swell until my fourteen-hour flight to HK from
Vancouver in which the entertainment system was busted! So I wondered, how should
I occupy myself for the six hours of expected movie time. Lucky me for
booking an almost empty flight, I just laid myself down and nap to oblivion.
I was sorry that all I brought with me
were sweaters, once I stepped out of the airport. How can anyone be wary
of a 13 degree Celsius "cold front"! If I was prepared, I'll be
out with my tank-tops and halters. ;-)
After a few days of napping some more,
went on my way to Guangzhou city on a bus. From there, I flew to Anhui
Province, which is somewhat close to Shanghai. That's one of my final
destination - Huangshan (The Yellow Mountains). At around 2k meters above
sea level, it's not very tall but what wonderful sceneries. Took the cable
cart up the mountain and stayed at the top for 2 days. Getting around were
stone steps.
At the end of my trip in Anhui, our guide
took us to few places where Crouching Tiger was filmed. One was the
"Hong" village - over 800 years old and still with 200
inhabitants living there. Then also visited this valley where the bamboo
scene was filmed. I must say it looked much better on film! (Cameras are
so tricky.)
I was dying to get back to Hong Kong and
watch TV after walking and walking and walking....(well, more like hiking
and hiking and hiking.) And last but not least, I DID NOT catch the SARS.
Good timng.
P.S. I ran out of color films so most of
the photos are in black and white.
