Education

Where do I Start the story of my education? I begin my story in Ghana a proud country in the western part of Africa. I started of as a nine month old infant at the Nsawam Ebenezer day care an nursary center. I remember ( if you can believe that of an infant) being called moses by the four and five year olds who went to the nursery at that time ebenezer because I always arrived in a covered basket at the back of my parents car. On graduating from Ebenezer, I went to Nana Osae Djan experimentall primary also in Nsawam for my primary school education and after a very successful primary education, I left for Adeiso Anglican Middle where I sat for and passed the common entrance examimation for admission to seccondary schools.

I continued my seccondarry school education at Adisadel college in cape-coast and after distinctive success in the West African Examination Council (WAEC) exams, I was admitted to Presbyterian Boys seccondary School and Sixth Form Science College (PRESEC) to pursue a major in Biology. I successfully completed PRESEC and after working as a Tutor in science at the Osu St Barnabas Anglican JSS in Osu (In Accra, the capital), I was admitted to Swarthmore college in Pennsylvannia where I am currently pursuing a double major in Engineering and Economics. What Does my Resume look like? To be frank it does not look too different from any ordinay seccond yeay swarthmore student pursuing a double major in engineering and Economics (Though there are indeed very few of us) but I do have my stong points that make unique.

To me, Education is not only about training the mind in intellectual work. A truely literate person must possess apart from accdemic competence, an excellent degree of interpersonal skills and know how. A brilliant engineer must be able to work in collaboration with other engineers and most economists, at least macro economists, work in concert. That is why I was so gratefull for the accademic atmosphere here at swat.

Through working on projects in labs be it chemistry or engineering, phsycology onEconomics as well as in attachmentto classes I have the orportunity to interact with fellow students on a one to one level and with time, my interpersonal skills as well as patience on a job is building up high. Through working as a lib asst in Cornell library, a computer consultant in Beardsly and Kohlberg public areas as well as a dispatcher in Beardsley my interpersonal skills are gonna be on a high for a while and then who knows I might just be good enough to be described as truly literate.
