Here is where it all began! The Blues, along with Jazz, are America's music: a fusion of African rhythms and chants, gospel, and traditional spirituals. This combination has spawned or influenced much of today's popular music including (but not limited to) country, folk, rock and/or roll, funk, R&B (that 'B' stands for Blues), and soul. Here at the WSRN Blues department we are devoted to Blues roots, with Funk and Soul mixed in.
In the true spirit of WRSN, we play music that conventional radio doesn't cover -- folks like Elmore James, O.V. Wright, Otis Redding, and The Jimmy Castor Bunch. We play 8 hours of blues music every week at the easy to remember hours of 12:00pm-2:00pm (on Wed, Thur, Fri and Sunday). Also: We are always looking for new Blues DJs, so if you know about the Blues -- or willing to learn -- call Ian Huntington at x5267. So kick back, tune in and chill out to the best the Blues.
