According to Natalie:"Being in the costumes themselves and having the stage makeup and hair really made me feel
different. And when you feel like a different person, it's easier to act like a different person. It
also changes your movements if you have a big thing on your head, you can't slouch like an
American teenager. You have to stand straight like a queen so it doesn't knock you over."
Queen Amidala in her parade costume:
During the parade held in the capital city of Theed to celebrate the alliance between the
Naboo and the Gungans, Queen Amidala wears the beautiful Parade Gown. This gown, much simpler in appearance the the queen's robes of office,
consists of a petaled cape over a plain white gown. The gown symbolizes purity, peace, and happiness, while the petals
represent the petals of a rare Naboo flower found near Amidala's home village. Instead of a headpiece, Queen Amidala wears
an aurate fan, a Naboo tradition symbolizing continuity. On her forhead hangs the royal diadem.
Queen Amidala meeting with Senator Palpatine:
Before her fateful address to the Senate, the queen meets in private with Senator Palpatine.
Though this meeting is less formal, that does not stop the queen from looking her best. Her gown is notable for its large, "penguin" sleeves and is made of a material which plays tricks on the eye, seeming to change from purple to gray to blue as it reflects the light in the room.
The headpiece is a Shiraya fan and is decorated with Veda pearl beading. In addition, glass filaments
dangle from the headpiece.
Queen Amidala aboard the royal starship:
On her return from Coruscant to Naboo, the queen wears her Traveling Gown.
This purple, multilayered gown has full cerlin sleeves and a pair of Drapa bindings which are draped over the queens shoulders. An antique tiara crowns the queen's head and her hair is wrapped in a mauve chersilk veil. This costume doubles as the queen's funeral gown.
