My home--Kasegaon,INDIA!

I LOVE IT!!!!
I arrived to Kasegaon, the home town of my father and his parents, when I was three months old. Kasegaon is in the state of Maharashtra 150 miles south of Bombay. It is in the district of Sangli. and is located in the Walwa county near the town of Islampur.
and has a population of about 10000 people. It is on the Pune-Bangalor highway is small business and shopping town for many small villages around the area.

Kasegaon is on the shore of river Krishna runs through the Sangli District.

They are many Kasegaon Education Societies in Sangli District. The first branch or the school was first founded in Kasegaon by my Grandfather Babuji Patankar who was a great freedom fighter in the area of Walwa county.

I grew up in this village of Kasegaon. I spent most of my childhood in a block with few of my Kinsmen and a some houses of the Lingayat (Teli) Kin. Our block was called the "Teli Galli(block)" with a bunch of marathas and brahman family. It was fun growing up in the block. We had a good mix of boys and girls who played in the area in front of the houses which we called the "Angan"'s. During vacations like Diwali, Ganesha festivals or summer a lot of kids who stayed in the city with their parents came home to their kin village with the entire family. So we would have a whole group of 20-25 kids playing in houses day and night.

Most of the town is agrarian. Many of my friend's parents are farmers who have farms outside of the town area. All of us kids often go on picnics to the farms. Where we have an abundance of mango and pappaya trees. We learned to swim in the "farm Wells" , where we went and still go every day during the summer. Sometimes people even walk to the river to wash clothes or a family picnic.
On the outskirts of the town near the Pune-Bangalore highway is a government bangalow which was built during the british regime. The building has grown old but the surroundings are beautiful and pleasant. People often go there for a morning run or an evening stroll.
There are three elementary school in Kasegaon. Two boys and one girls. There is one high school which is called "Azad Vidyalaya,Kasegaon," . This was founded in 1948 by my Grandfather, one year after India gained independence. The name"Azad" (suggested by my grandmother) stands for "freedom."

Kasegaon is a pretty diverse community in terms of classes, castes and religions. Many of them are Hindus and 10 percent muslims and about 1 percent Jains.
