My work as a filmmaker!

It all started the summer of 1998 when I got a Swarthmore Foundation Grant for a project in India. I had been interested in the issue of Abandoned women that was coming up in the area that I lived in. So I decided to use the Grant money for a documentary about these women's lives. That summer I went home to my village in India and with the help of a local cameraman shot the interviews as well as took part in the current struggle of the abandoned women in my area. I shot the video in a local VHS camera and edited it with a local analouge editing system.THe documentary is ... Parityaktas:The struggle of abandoned women in India. And there it began-----

I have been finishing the editing of this documentary with the help of a documentary production class and the AVID Xpress digital editing system in the Media services of Swarthmore College.

The APRIL of 1999 my friend Maria Mcmath and I co-produced a film on a rally that occured at Swarthmore College protesting the hate incidents. It was released to the college community. It is called "Respect, safety , Unity :The Rally of 1998"

I hope to continue this work in India.I want to use film as a medium by which underrepresented can speak.

My plans for the summer!--I am working as a Developing assistant for a documentary company called "Magnet Media" which is located in Manhatten.
