I make abstractions, like everybody else.
We speak to somebody, not just about something. . In the classroom, we often talk about things that are not in the classroom, and which we more or less don’t want anything to do with. “In the center of the ocean is a ridge of volcanoes.” “The same side of the moon is turned towards us, always.” “Your cells need carbohydrates and amino acids.” I would say that, unless you happen to be a very large amoeba, your cells are not in the classroom.
The Web is like a hall of mirrors, that may feel spacious and populous, but remains kinda chilly.
