Joyous Jupiter and Io
or, the Delights of Decameter Radiation
or, why Beth is building a radio telescope
my rationale:
- Jupiter is possessed of a gigantic bullet shape magnetosphere,
which, at times, Saturn even enters.
- Io, the closest of the Gallilean Moons, is the most volcanic object
in the solar system.
- the volcanic flows on Io are mega conductive.
- you've got a conductor moving through a magnetic field and - a radio
source is born!
- hence, my attempt to build a radio telescope to observe the decameter
(10-20 Mhz) radiation from Jupiter
Here's a site with Jupiter noise
storm predictions
Some information about the Nancay decametric
array
And a little more on Jupiter's magnetosphere
someday, there may be a neato image here of
something. but
right now... sigh!
