They came, they said, we laughed...

One of the joys of working as a circulation librarian this summer at the music library of the Interlochen Arts Camp was getting to listen to and attempt to honor the requests of campers, staff, and faculty... But some of those requests were just so... precious. A listing of some of the especial treasures:

5 July 1997
• "So can I like check things out from here?
• "Why do I have to bring the book back to renew it?"
• "Why will I still have a fine tomorrow if I pay the fine today but keep the book?"
• "Can we, like, check stuff out?"
• "So, is this the lost and found?"
• "So, is the music library right around the corner?"

11 July 1997
• Patron:"I'd like the piano part for the Sonata."

  Eric:"Which sonata?"

  Same Patron:"Do you have cassettes?"

  Beth:"A couple, more records and cd's"

  Same Patron:"Do you have, like, Pictures at an Exposition?"

• "You wouldn't happen to have a large plastic bag, would you?"

• "We can't play this one. We don't have an orchestra!"

• "These headphones aren't up to the current technology."

• "Oh no - I don't want a library card!"

• "Hi... could I rent something?"
• "Hi... someone upstairs sent me down here for a babysitter."

• "You wouldn't happen to have any AA batteries I could buy off of you, would you?"

• "Hi. Can I listen to something? Is that ok?"
• "Hi... are you a librarian?"

And last, but certainly not least - 17 August 1997
• "Excuse me miss, are you the secretary for Ruddigore?"

For whatever reason, they seem to come in clumps, these gems! The moon or something, I suppose...
