What We Do

SPC hosts a variety of activities during the academic year. In addition to weekly Pizza and Parable (our dinner and discussion group), we co-sponsor retreats with ELM, have monthly Taize service, and have started weekly service this fall. Scroll for additional information.

Pizza and Parable meets weekly over dinner (pizza) to discuss a Biblical passage, usually from the New Testament. Discussion is open and friendly - newcomers always welcome.

SPC and ELM cosponsor annual retreats: one to a monastery and two annual beach retreats. Come take a weekend to worship and relax!

Taize services happen on the first Sunday of each month. Join us for a time of chanting and silent reflection. Members of local parishes join us for the singing and provide dinner. Again, newcomers always welcome!

The Chester Mutual Ministry has been launched by Joyce Thompkins and Mark Wallace, a professor in the religion department, in cooperation with a number of ministers who work in Chester. This fall, a group of students will be committing to weekly service in Chester followed by group reflection. We have a number of open projects - everything from after-school tutoring to helping in a new food co-op. Send Joyce (jtomki1) or yie (ayie1) an email for additional information and a sign-up form.
